A great team effort as the Lions’ league best offense figured out the Blues defense and put it to the torch. The defense got their 7th shutout of the season to go to the top of the league in that category. The entire team maintained great shape and pressure on the Blues, especially in the 1st half. They came out flat for the first 15 minutes of the second half before locking the game down after the 3rd goal. A fantastic road trip for USL Pro’s best team.
7 Dennis Chin was the man of the match with two calmly taken finishes resulting from perfectly timed runs behind the L.A. defense. Missing a sitter and a chance for a hat trick cost him an 8 rating.
6 Jean Alexandre again showed why he is a MLS calibre player. Great hold up play, an assist on Chin’s second goal, and a pile driver finish just seconds before being subbed off shows why the Lions covet him so highly.
5 Kevin Molino had a solid if unspectacular night to help the midfield control the game.
5 Rodrigo Lopez ditto to Molino’s review. Almost set up Chin for a third goal when he should have shot himself.
5 Ian Fuller was calm on the ball and solid in defense to keep the tempo in City’s favor.
6 Kieron Bernard had a strong game. He was a beast in the air all night and maintained excellent defensive positions with Davies.
7 Kyle Davies was the best player in the second half. In addition to great positioning he had a saving tackle early in the second half when the Lions were a little off their game.
5 Luke Boden has played every minute of the season and along with O’Conner is the most consistent player on the team. He got forward more in this game with several nice crosses and corners.
5 Erik Ustruck had a competent if quiet game. No mistakes and good hustle throughout.
6 Miguel Gallardo had his usually steady night with great distribution. He came up with a fantastic save early in the second half and will relish another clean sheet.
Substitutes
7 Matt Luzunaris Great defensive pressure set up Alexandre’s goal and he professionally finished Watson’s toe poke for Orlando’s fourth.
5 Charlie Campbell, Adama Mbengue, James O’Conner, and Justin Clark came on and helped dominate possession and lock the game down after the 3rd and 4th goals.
